IT'S MY BLOGAVERSARY

Hi people.  I can't believe it has been one year since I started blogging.  I was very resistant to start one as I did not feel I had anything important to say or share.  Thanks to a good friend who thought otherwise, I am now happy I have a place to share my passion.  I surely am not the best card maker or scrapper out there, but it is mine and I am proud of what I do.  Hey, I want to give a shout out to my friend and artist Robert Jackson http://www.fineartsbyrobertjackson.com/.  He created my personal image which I love.  Check him out if you would like one for yourself.  Now for the good part, in honor of my blogaversary I will be giving blogcandy to one lucky follower   You will receive a $10 gift certificate from Robert Jackson, perhaps you can use it to have your image drawn. In addition you will receive a $10 Michaels gift card.  All you have to do to be eligible is to first be a follower and second leave a comment wishing me a Happy Blogaversary and tell me why crafting brings you JOY.  Thank you all for following me this last year and I hope you continue to stop by.  I will run this contest for one week ending on 4/5.  Please leave a way for me to contact you if I don't know you well in case you are the winner.   Peace out.

Ok, I am back with more cards.  The first one is for a challenge over at http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/cfc/forum/topics/creative-freebie-challenge-march-24-april-7.  It is a free image that we can make whatever we want with.  I made a gate fold card for a friends birthday.

My other card is an image by Robert Jackson http://www.fineartsbyrobertjackson.com/females.html called Daisy.  Thanks for looking folks and just to let you know that my one year Blogaversary is tomorrow.  Be looking for a giveaway sometime this weekend.  Remember you must be a follower to win.

ANIMAL PRINTS

Hello folks, it has been awhile since I posted, but I have been very busy the last week.  Well, I am back now and more than ready to get back to crafting.  The next day after I got home from California, I made my way to the new Hobby Lobby that opened up just 5 minutes away from me.  I did go to one in California also while I was there.  Anyhow I picked up a few goodies that I am sure I do not NEED.  I love animal prints as if you did not notice, so I picked up a sheet of this to make as many cards as I could with one 8 1/2 x 11.  I used Robert Jackson http://www.fineartsbyrobertjackson.com/, images for all of the cards.  I will be entering these cards in the Robert Jackson Digi group challenge at Scraps of color, http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/, and http://memascrafts.blogspot.com/2010/02/a-pocketful-of-anything.html.  Thanks for looking.

Just a little something

I have had a very busy week and I ain't finished yet.  Just needed to do something creative to break the mood so I made a quick card.  I used an old House Mouse image.  Ya'll remember House Mouse?  Some folks do not like these critters, but I always thought they were so cute.  Anyway thanks for stopping by and have a nice Tuesday.

Congratulations on your Wedding

I am headed out in the morning to Flagstaff, AZ for a wedding.  It is my daughter's cousin that is getting married and my daughter really wanted to attend since she does not see her dad's side of the family often.  I volunteered to drive her there to make sure she makes it safe as she does not drive.  Anyway, we got her a gift card and I wanted to make a frame for her since I love doing this so much.  I started out with an unfinished wood frame from Micheal's for $1. You can't beat that for a nice but inexpensive gift.   I posted the card I made for her a few weeks back, but wanted to post with the frame.  Thanks for stopping by.

Pop up Birthday Card

I was ask to create a Birthday card for my Slide Class instructor and his wife.  How cool that their birthdays are a day apart.  I decided on a pop up card to resemble the class.  The outside was created with a Martha Stewart Birthday punch and some border stickers and music notes.  On the inside I used a few people stickers and also two images by Robert Jackson http://www.fineartsbyrobertjackson.com/, called Electric Slide and the Wobble.  I thought this would be just perfect for our class to sign for them.  An envelope to match was made by my envelope punch board.  The card was a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  I love this board and it is super easy to use. They are now back ordered till April.  Thanks for looking and hope you have been inspired to try a pop up card.

Celebrating National Craft Month

So last night I invited over several of my crafty friends to craft the night away in honor of National Craft Month.  We worked on all kinds of stuff from cards, picture frames,  coloring images and cutting dies.   I personally started two picture frames, completed the insides of 3 cards I had made the nite before for Friday night Chat at Scraps of Color.  Did manage to complete 2 more cards.   One I made a matching envelope with my new punch board envelope maker.  Ladies, this is a very easy way to create envelopes of all sizes so go check it out.  I see they are sold out almost every where.  I will be entering this in http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/.  The other  card is one I made for my neighbor's sister.   She is a Red Hat and turning 70.  Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate you and your comments.

With Deepest Smypathy

A very old friend from college days at the U of A called yesterday to inform me that her mother had passed away the day before.  I went to work right away to be able to send her a bit of comfort.  She does not scrapbook or make cards, but has told me numerous times how much she appreciates the hand made cards I send periodically and keeps them. Image is called Lil First lady by Robert Jackson  May your mommie be at peace.  Thanks

SOC CHALLENGES

Morning fellow crafters.  Hope everyone has had their cup of coffee and off to a good day.  Today I have two cards I made for challenges going on at Scraps of Color.  The first one is for the Sistah/Brotha Blogger Challenge.  We were to to make something featuring GREEN. http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/events/sistah-brotha-blogger-challenges-2012-13?xg_source=activity.  Since I did not want to do a St. Patrick's Day card, I made a birthday card for someone who likes green.

Next I did a challenge card for the Robert Jackson Digi group over at Scraps of Color also.  http://www.fineartsbyrobertjackson.com/   The challenge was to use one of his shoe images and add a bow or a buckle to the card.  This is what I came up with.  Not fancy, but cute.  Peace out

Random image Challege

Here is a quick one that I did this morning.  I was in the chat at Scraps of Color on Friday nite when someone (Trina) said " put a challenge out to keep me from falling asleep."  Needless  to say, I was falling asleep also.  I wanted to keep in the spirit but not at the moment.  I got permission from Robert Jackson  http://www.fineartsbyrobertjackson.com/  to do a random challenge using one of his exclusive images.  By the way, if you don't already know, he gives away special images if you order at least 5 digis during the month.  People had until midnite to request the image and should post in the gallery by midnight tonite.  I hope everyone does as I have a pet peeve about people not using images they request to play.  Robert is kind enough to allow us to use them.  Thanks again Robert.  Ok, for my project I chose to do a small canvas hanging.  This image is called "A Scrapper's Dream".  I bought the canvas at the dollar store and painted it with gesso to cover what was on it.  I then used paint and print papers to give it curtains and carpet.  I broke out my sidekick to cut the small letters.  Think I will enter this into Outlawz  bling challenge also.  Thanks for looking.

AFROCENTRIC FRAME SWAP

Evening folks.  Today I get to post a project I did over at Scraps of Color.  I had an altered picture frame swap.  Everyone was partnered up with someone to create an Afrocentric frame for.  We were only given a few things to go by such as favorite color.  My partner was Mary Wooding and she told me she liked black, white and pink and bling.  Well, I think I handled that.  I almost did not want to part with it since I love some bling.  I used a $1 unfinished frame from Michael's and painted it black.  I added that pretty feather ( was a hairpiece) which I got a a dollar store and the studs on top are earrings I got at the same dollar store.  I just cut the backs off of them.   Added lots of bling and a verse.  Anyway, hope you enjoyed this project.  Thanks for stopping by and peace out.

BIRTHDAY GREETING

Here's a little something I just finished for my niece.  The image is from Mayzy called Amy.  She is really cute or at least I think so.  Because I put that feather and bling on it, the Post Office wanted to charge me $2.12 to mail it.  I went to another P.O and added another .20 to my regular stamp.  I am retired, I can not afford to pay that much extra for adding bling and flowers.   I am entering this in http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/ Peace out.
